Books and Flowers

My favorite flowers are Irises and when my husband planted Bearded Irises I was pretty excited.  They keep coming back, too, even with our horrible weeding skills!  This week the yellow and light purple ones are in bloom.  I am having trouble capturing their beauty with my camera, but I gave it a shot, and I think they turned out fairly sweet.
Sweet Shot Day
They are way prettier in person.  Seriously interesting flowers.

I almost didn't participate in Texture Tuesday because I just ran out of time, but I really wanted to participate in a challenge with "words" in its theme.  I love words!  I could have just used my Scripture and a Snapshot from yesterday, but the words I used were pretty heavy.  So finally, I took some pictures of a small fraction of my books and added some texture.  Posing things is not my strong suit but I love books, all books, all types, all colors, most sizes (I really don't like those little tiny square books that aren't really books and never fit on a shelf properly), and I love words (probably why my photography blog is so wordy!).  It isn't my favorite textured photo ever, but I really look forward to seeing everyone else's work over at Kim Klassen's Cafe.

I love your idea to use a texture on those wonderful old classics...gives them such a warm, vintage feel!

As for your Iris's, I have never been much of a fan of them but think you have inspired me to try my hand at ours once they come up! So pretty! =)

Nothing fancy you say? a great idea and a beautiful texture! I love it.
Gorgeous Iris pictures. I think the purple shot shows the flower better because it is further away, you can see the pretty frilly petals. Strange for me because I usually always go for a closer/macro shot. I am supposed to be getting ready for work not looking through fabulous texture photos!

Books and Iris' are some of my favorite things! I have to divide my iris this year, as they have multiplied to the point of excess!

Maybe I should have an iris give-away on my blog…

Flowers and book accompanied by textures makes for a fabulous combination. These two shots are wonderful. What is it about irises that pull the flower lover in and holds her tightly. Mine have finally finished blooming and it is a bit sad. Oh, well, there is always next year. Beautiful work. genie

I love these! The first flower looks like it's puckering up for a kiss. :)

And the books.......... I'm in love with them. Beautiful texture work on an image that by itself would have made me drool all over my keyboard (excuse my crassness).

What lovely irises! I love them because they are so perfectly imperfect, and your photos capture that so well. Your blog is wonderful... I love the bubbles from the other day, too.

my iris are just starting to send up stems and i'm getting anxious to see their beauty once again. i think there are fewer and fewer flowers over the last couple of years and may have to do some dividing once they've put on their show . . .

your iris shots are very pretty. i particularly like the purple one.

your TT image is excellent. simple but fabulous ~ very well done~!
