Week 26 good to WOW SOOC Red, White, and Blue

It is once again time to link our unedited, SOOC, photos up with Jill in order to edit them and link with Ashley on Thursday.  I do not know how many flag shots I have taken in the last 4 weeks, how many pictures of red, white, and blue things--balloons, Costco signs, toys, etc--literally thousands.  Some of them were good, but none of them were great, and more importantly I really don't have a use for a WOW edit of some mediocre balloon pictures.  I was not pleased with any of my flag pictures though I would love to have a spectacular flag shot in my archives.  So I dressed the kids up in red, white, and blue and headed to the park only to have it start pouring and the temperature drop 20 degrees.  We tried again the next day, but coming up with 3 new red, white, and blue outfits proved challenging, so Sunflower dressed in red, SnapDragon in blue, and Huckleberry in white.  Sigh, going to the park AFTER shots at the doctor's office was a bad idea.  They didn't want to cooperate at all, and more importantly, they purposely avoided being near enough together for a group shot.

Seriously, this is as close as I could get them together:
1/640    f/5.6     200mm    ISO 100
So I really don't have a Red, White, and Blue group photo.  It isn't because I am not patriotic or am grateful for the freedom I have in America.  It is because sometimes I extend that freedom to my children.  However, I do have a photo for each of them. (Actually, way more than one of each of them, but just as I am sparing you the balloons and Costco signs, I will limit my posting of my children...for today).

Huckleberry:
1/400   f/5.6    200mm    ISO 200
You live and learn, but bright white on a person outside on a bright sunny day--very hard to capture!

Sunflower:
1/320     f/2.0   50m   ISO 100
You do not know my restraint in only posting this photo of her.  But I chose this one from amongst some favorites because it actually has Red, White, AND Blue.

SnapDragon and Grandpa:
1/640    f/1.8    50mm    ISO 200
Not perfect (well, my photos aren't perfect), but it fits the theme and I am very pleased to capture treasured memories with my Dad.

Me:
1/320     f/1.8     50mm     ISO 100
You don't see it?  Well, in his beautiful blue eyes, if you zoom in really close, you will see my reflection with my red Minnie Mouse hat on.  I have found hats are much better than sunglasses at protecting my eyes from the sun when I plan to take pictures all day--flat hair or not.

Given how many Red, White, and Blue photos I have in my archives from the last 4 weeks, I am very proud to have limited myself to only 5 photos.  Thankfully, lots of other linky parties have patriotic themes this week, too!

Have a safe and blessed Independence Day!  God bless America!

You are way too hard on yourself. These shots are great. I especially love the last one. :)

I love that first shot! Sometimes they are my favorite. You don't always need a face in the shot to capture a ton of emotion and in this case sweetness!

I love the last shot with your reflection in his eyes. Beautiful!

Blessings and happy 4th!
Jill

I just can choose, they are all lovely. If I were to pick one though, I'd say I love that shot with the reflection in the water.

I love all the effort you put into these photos and I do think they are wonderful even though you didn't get your "group shot." I hope you guys have a wonderful 4th!
