Once again it is time to link our edits over at Ashley's. I find editing sky photos difficult because I just seem to like everything--this blue or that blue...this brightness or that brightness...they all look kind of pretty. By the time I'm done I'm not even sure what I did, but here are a few of my steps on one little image. I bet you were hoping I would do one edit on my one little photo and call it good. Well, I was kind of hoping I would too.

Removed Black Dot (probably created by the dirty window) from upper left cloud, Ran MCP Mini-Fusion |
I know, not much difference, but I think the deeper blues and greater contrast bring out the sun, trees, and clouds a little more. But since so many people said it was like a painting, I thought I would try making it like a painting. Unfortunately, the different painting filters in PSE ended up blurring the details too much for my taste. I looked for a canvas texture to add, but I don't seem to have one. But here is my "painting effect" with which I am not completely satisfied.

Edited image, added two layers of Kim Klassen's "Not to Shabby" both with a hue/sat adjustment that took the light slider down to -45 but one layer of the texture is rotated 90 degrees to create cross lines. Then I ran CoffeeShops Cross-Processing keeping layer 2, I think. I think there was a PW Boost with the Zing or Zip deleted and a hue/saturation adjustment to the whole image with the levels increased. That's it. |
Then, because while I am actually quite interested in learning about clipping masks I don't feel competent to understand them tonight, so I downloaded the Polaroid app and created a polaroid--actually 4 since I couldn't figure out where the first three were saving themselves--or more accurately why the thumbnail wasn't a jpeg. Then I went into preferences and changed the default saving spot to where I wanted it and now it is a fun app.
That's all folks! Do go and check out the other edits--there are some truly beautiful SOOC photos.
