Week 18 good to WOW SOOC Mother's Day

I hope you had a fabulous week!  Mine was pretty good.  My Mother's Day was pretty nice, too.  Lots of hugs and kisses and "I love you"s plus lunch out with a friend (who also left her kids behind with hubby), and 2 hours shooting pictures of flowers in a local nursery.  We kind of planned to go on to a garden, also, but after 2 hours my friend's battery was dead and my feet were pretty fed up.  That's okay, the nursery had lots of things to capture!  I will limit myself to two for this week's shoot and edit.  So hard, so hard!  But I will be thankful on Thursday!

I captured several good photos of my friend, Julie over at Being Well Blessed, but this is my favorite.  I definitely need more practice at portrait photography...and maybe a good portrait lens...someday...but she is beautiful!

I'm not sure if this is my favorite picture of the day or not, but I do love it, and I especially love the uniqueness of the flower.  Granted every flower seems unique to me compared to my garden of dandelions, but still pretty cool, huh?

I had to basically lie on the ground to capture this shot since it is hanging down from above and I was using my 55-200mm lens.  No one at the nursery seemed to mind at all.  In fact we saw others with their camera phones taking pictures.  Truly a beautiful place, definitely a step up from Home Depot.

I suppose some day when my children don't come home for Mother's Day because they are too busy or they want to celebrate Mother's Day with their wife because they just went to their first information meeting at an adoption agency or she might be pregnant, I'll regret spending the time away from them on this Mother's Day, but currently I feel okay with that future.  I did come home and watch a movie with my two year old jumping on me, my 7 year old cuddling next to me, and my 11 year old silently enthralled with the movie on the other couch.  I waited until they were in bed to edit my pictures.  I was also able to  visit my grandmother and aunt Saturday, so I did get to celebrate the special women in my life.  I just spent Mother's Day with my best friend.

Make sure to check out all the other Mother's Day photos over at Jill's blog.

Thanks for the compliment. If I look good it's because you took a good photo. :)

Wow! What an amazing flower! And good for you for doing what it takes to get the shot! lol!! :)

And your friend is beautiful! You did a good job on it!

And you know what, mommies need some time for themselves too, so it's ok! :)
