Week 31 good to WOW SOOC Turn the Hose On

I must admit it was fun to finally have a day hot enough to play in the hose.  I took lots of shots I love, but I'm limiting myself to one of each kid.  Does that make you happy I only have 3 kids...so far?  As far as this challenge has taken me in my editing (and I have learned a TON), I also feel like my SOOC are getting better~not perfect, but much better.  This makes me very happy.

One thing I've learned, and I have mentioned it before but I believe it even more so now, is to use cloudy white balance, especially outside even if it is sunny out.  I switched from auto to cloudy and I am just overall happier with my images.  Now custom white balance would probably accomplish the same thing, or even be better, but in the meantime, I am so happy with cloudy.  The colors are more vibrant and more true to the actual event.  I don't feel like I need to take every image into PSE just to make the colors pop.  I know, I know, if I shot in RAW it wouldn't matter as much because you can choose your white balance post processing (even as a jpg I can change it), but I'd rather just be able to say~this is (S)traight (O)ut (O)f the (C)amera.

They look like they're having fun - sometimes the cloudy white balance thingie makes my images almost too warm. I need to practice more!

Im sorry I couldn't get past the whole "finally warm enough" thing. Man I need to move to the PNW!! Great shots, and I tried the whole cloudy thing, great for outdoors (i was using it outside anyway) but in the house I found it makes my photos way to warm. I tend to use the florecent or tungsten light.

I'm sorry... did you post pics? Cause I'm still reading that first sentence... just *now* hot enough??? lol! I was thinking this evening that huh, it was just cool enough to really enjoy walking! (don't get me wrong, I *love* summer and heat -- however this 100+* weather's been a killer on my walking habit! lol)

lol!

ok, so anyway...

Yes, I usually leave my wb set to cloudy. On my camera I can adjust the temp of cloudy, so I can make it a bit cooler/warmer if needed. :) I hardly every use auto. I used to custom wb, but ended up making them warmer anyway in pp.

Cute shots -- I like the perspective on the first, the grin in the 2nd -- and I want to love the last one, but I'm having a hard time seeing where the focus is... but I'm thinking it's still my fav -- the light and the action is beautiful!
