Sweet Battleship Textured Flower

Happy, happy Tuesday!  I have a blissfully empty week ahead ending with a weekend away for a women's retreat, so it is definitely a happy week for me!

I think my sweet shots have been almost all of my daughter, so here's a collage of my boys:
Sweetly (and seriously) playing Battleship while visiting my dad.
I was glad to get enough light from the sliding glass door. Though I've apparently been seeking light and avoiding flash too avidly.  When I picked up my camera today my daughter thought it meant we were going outside. :)
Sweet Shot Day
And for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday:
Just one layer of Serendipity Soft Light 100% opacity.  I brushed some of it off of the flower because I like the bright colors, but a very simple edit overall.  I really like the coloring and darker edges and scratches/texture in this new texture.  Terrific!

Per feedback from comments, I've edited this post to add:
The text definitely needed to be softer and have some texture, so I put it under the texture layer and lowered the opacity.  I like it better, do you?  Keep the gentle feed back coming; I still have a steep learning curve to climb.  I'd love help climbing it faster.

Great job with the tulip!

That tulip is phenomenal! The colors, the texturing! I am proud to see the text. Happy faced critique...okay? Try placing your text down below the top layer. It will make it softer and less the center of attention. You can also try lowering the opacity or trying the soft light mode. Please know that I am only encouraging you...not being critical...I know that you don't want this to be the center of attention of your lovely work. You are doing a great job!

Gorgeous tulip! The texture and color are striking.

Too funny that camera time means outside time to your daughter. My little boy tends to think the same thing.

Great job Cedar! I think the bright warm tones of the flower are great with this texture...and the delicate pattern shows off the texture too! nicely done!
Just a hint about type - less is always more. It's just psychology, because we read without thinking...even when you can hardly see it. Between you and me, type is over-rated. ;)

Beautiful flower. The colouring is stunning. I prefer the edited version with the altered text. I like using text on my altered photographs & always try to blend it into the background without shadows or highlights.

I really like the pics of the boys. Suddenly I feel like we should get Battleship. :) That's very funny that She thinks you guys are going outside when you get your camera. LOL And the tulip shot is great! I agree that the text under the texture is better. I like. :)
