Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Time to post our hunt finds!  I think know I'm fudging some of my photos, and some of these I took last Saturday (before I knew the theme); look at me becoming a rule breaker!  But while some of these came really easily--so much that choosing one was difficult--a few of them eluded me.  Who knew the only cool statues I'd see this week were at the Fair--and they apparently are someone's art, so not allowed to be photographed!

Bokeh:

Remember:
All week I was thinking about the past, so this is Sunflower with her grandmother who passed last November.  But of course, it is also the 10 year anniversary of 9-11.  How to honor those whose lives were lost or experienced a personal lost?  This grange at the fair tried.

Statues:
All wood, all natural statue?  No?

Process of Elimination:
I took a ton pictures of swings and ferris wheels, etc. trying to capture "flying high."  Then I actually got a vision for what I wanted!  I thought if I could add the sunflare to the photo, it would give it the context of height--making it more obvious that is was "high."  I had to run around to the other side of the swing from where we were meandering, stopping down my aperture as I ran.  I only had a moment to snap two shots before I ran back to my family (I'm not sure they knew where I went.)  The flare was there, and when I got home it was my favorite shot from the day for capturing flying high.  I did take the process of elimination a little further.  I cropped to a square, straightened a little so angle less distracting, and lowered the exposure on the people a little so they were more of a silhouette.  (I also had to clone out a few spots; I need to get my camera cleaned.)  All of those things were done to eliminate what took away from the image and left me with an image I loved.
Then I did the normal brighten, etc.  Couldn't decide which edit I liked best, so you get another collage for...

Flying High:
Have a Happy Sunday and Happy Hunting!

Yowza!!! LOVE that "flying high" shot with the sun flare! And you are right, the flare gives the illusion of more height. Brilliant idea on your part.

the collage is beautiful.
The flag in food stuffs is lovely. The remember photo of your little and her grandmother touches me most - - we are celebrating the life of my son's grandpa on Tuesday and I'm not ready. I wish there'd been more time, more pictures, more.

Your process of elimination led to some very cool shots for flying high!! I love that you cut it down to just half of the picture, it's far more stunning that way. Wonderful job!!

Also, this week always leaves me remembering my grandfather (15 years ago today...we mourned him before 9/11). I totally understand your remember photo...I did a full post of it yesterday :) *hugs*

I'm okay with the wood statue. I love it! Your picture of your grandma is very precious. I have a couple of mine around here too. She's been gone for overs 5 years now. Photos are our way of being memory keepers.

Everything is beautiful! I think my favorite swing shot is the one that has the orangey glow! :)

I am determined to play with my camera this week, and start learning more. I may have told my husband that he needed to fly me to the Pacific Northwest so I could learn from a pro....but he just laughed at me. :)

Have a wonderful Sunday, Cedar!

Fabulous Cedar! Your final shot for Process of Elimination is just wonderful. My favorite is the one with the warm tones in the upper right of your collage. I love that you had a vision for what you wanted to do, and you DID IT!! Thanks so much for linking this in to Exploring with a Camera. I have so much fun coming by here!

Great shots Cedar especially that bokeh and the flag made with the eggs and flowers. Your elimination photo was great - my favourite was the bottom left shot of the collage.
