Books and Flowers

My favorite flowers are Irises and when my husband planted Bearded Irises I was pretty excited.  They keep coming back, too, even with our horrible weeding skills!  This week the yellow and light purple ones are in bloom.  I am having trouble capturing their beauty with my camera, but I gave it a shot, and I think they turned out fairly sweet.

They are way prettier in person.  Seriously interesting flowers.

I almost didn't participate in Texture Tuesday because I just ran out of time, but I really wanted to participate in a challenge with "words" in its theme.  I love words!  I could have just used my Scripture and a Snapshot from yesterday, but the words I used were pretty heavy.  So finally, I took some pictures of a small fraction of my books and added some texture.  Posing things is not my strong suit but I love books, all books, all types, all colors, most sizes (I really don't like those little tiny square books that aren't really books and never fit on a shelf properly), and I love words (probably why my photography blog is so wordy!).  It isn't my favorite textured photo ever, but I really look forward to seeing everyone else's work over at Kim Klassen's Cafe.

Scripture and a Snapshot

Because I only need one edit of this photo for Thursday and this verse goes with bubbles so well.

How many times am I floating happily along my own merry way only to have my bubble burst when I realize how far I've strayed from leaning on God and His plan for my life?  Am I the only one?

Week 22 good to WOW SOOC Bubbles

Oh my goodness!  I had no clue how HARD it is to take pictures of bubbles!  The camera couldn't see them at all and I had to use manual focus to capture anything!  However, I STILL didn't get what I envisioned--you know those glorious shots that Michelle captured for UP.  I think I had finally figured out what I needed to do when my children refused to blow any more bubbles.  I planned to try again with my husband over the weekend, but it wasn't sunny when we had the time.  So my first photo is not for Shoot and Edit because it is already edited.

This is 6 different photos layered so I could have more than one almost in focus bubble in the photo.

I did capture a few photos during the session I like and I expect to enjoy editing.

I am not sure what it is about this photo.  Everything seems wrong, but put all together I like it. Don't know why.

I should have been satisfied with those.  Then I wouldn't overwhelm you with too many pictures again.  However, since we didn't get a chance to take more bubble pictures outside, my husband set up bubbles in the tub for me to photograph.  They were kind of tiny bubbles so I couldn't get any good color reflections from them so I had my children hold a flashlight over them.  Then they held a filtered flashlight over them.  Then SnapDragon found his colored flashlight, too.  Then they had the brilliant idea of holding them under the water  (Thanks, Captain Awesome, for the water-proof, many color-filtered flashlights)--I hadn't realized they were waterproof.  So they don't look like bubbles at all, but I got many fun shots this way.  Here are some of them, probably too many.

Maybe I'm learning a little bit about abstract art?  But then again maybe I like it because it looks like some fascinating place in outer space.
